Going Home
The past six months here have been very hard for both quincy and I. Our time here started with miscommunications and expectations we weren't aware of. We, however, decided to keep going here until we felt released from our positions. In the past 3 months, it has become apparent that our pledged amount would not be met, and that we are lacking about half of our funding. We also felt that the estimated amount was not enough to live here in Switzerland, being that it is one of the most expensive places to live in the world and the dollar continues to depreciate. We posted in our last blog that we needed more money and we receive some but not enough to stay here. Also during our time, I (Ashley) have struggled with my health. I was diagnosed with IBS two days before we left to come here, and with my job being so physically and emotionally demanding, the chronic pain that I feel has gotten worse. I also have other symptons which we feel are not normal, whether they are from stress or something else, that is something we can only determine by returning and seeking a physicians care in the US. So, for these and many more reasons we have decided to come back at the end of this month (February 28). We really want to thank everyone for the prayers and support that we have received while volunteering these last six months. Any money that we receive in our account from now and so on, will go to the other volunteers here who are also struggling with the money situation. We ask that everyone would pray for us in the coming weeks as we say our goobyes here, and also upon returning home. We don't have jobs set up but we are trusting that God will continue to direct our path. We have a long frustrating road ahead to find what is wrong with my health and we just need a lot of patience in dealing with the whole situation.
